Cyber Essentials Certification Explained

IDS Cyber Essentials Certificate

Working with Clear Thinking IT,  IDS attained the Cyber Essentials accreditation demonstrating the necessary controls, policies and procedures are in place to protect not only our own but our client's data as well.

As the rate of cyber-related criminal activity is on the increase, cyber-security is of paramount concern for IDS and our Insurance sector clients and partners.  As a data processor IDS contracts often require the handling of private and personal data which needs to be managed in a secure and safe digital environment.

Cyber Essentials is the official UK-wide, government-backed scheme that helps companies guard against the most common cyber threats, reportedly reducing business risk by at least 80%.  As a prescriptive standard, it concentrates on the protection of data and programs on networks, computers, servers, and other elements of an IT infrastructure.    The process of auditing a business to establish certification involves an independent CyberSmart qualified auditor conducting an assessment to test that the correct controls are established and in place to mitigate the risks of internet threats.

Paul Johnson, MD for IDS comments:

“Given everything going on in the world, linked to cyber attacks IDS is committed to maintaining a proactive approach to Cyber Security, meeting standards such as Cyber Essentials ensures the necessary controls are in place and kept up to date.", Paul Johnson, Managing Director at IDS
